“Therefore let us go outside the camp, bearing His reproach.” Hebrews13:13
The camp described above is not in Jerusalem or the sacred place of God.
The priests were instructed to take the bodies of the animals whose blood was sacrificed for sin outside the camp. The bodies were contaminated and of no value to God. They were to be burned.
Jesus was killed outside the camp so that His blood could sanctify and save unbelievers. The reproach of Jesus is the conviction of the Holy Spirit to cause unbelievers to repent and turn to Jesus.
As believers, we live in the world without a continuing city. The world is polluted and is not the home of a believer. We seek the continuing city promised by the gift of salvation. This city in Heaven is perfect.
God asks Christians to go outside of the camp and get your hands dirty reaching out to the dregs of society. We are to do this with praise and giving thanks to Jesus.
The work of Jesus is done outside the camp and is bringing counsel, executing judgment, hiding the outcasts and operating with meekness and humility. The Bible instructs Christians to make your shadow like the night in the middle of the day.
The work outside the camp is created by the Holy Spirit who anoints and equips a Christian for a powerful ministry.
There are many different ministries and Jesus will choose a perfect ministry defined by your personality and gifts.
In the meantime, the Christian is to be a fountain of Living Water touching all those in your life.
Sometimes it takes a long time to be called into a ministry. Moses tended sheep for forty years before the burning bush encounter with Jesus.
