“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.” Hebrews 4:9
Walking with Jesus is not about taking action. It is learning to rest in the gift of salvation. The works of God begin with Jesus not man.
The spiritual principle of rest originated with God who worked to create the Heavens and Earth in six days and rested on the seventh day.
God did not want Gideon to take success for defeating the Midianites and made him reduce the size of his army to three hundred men and follow the instructions of God.
Jesus died to give believers the gift of salvation. We rest in the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross and follow this spiritual principle. “It is not by might nor by strength but by My Spirit.”
Resting in Jesus is praying to be filled with the powerful attributes of the Most High. We submit to the authority of the Holy Spirit and invite Him to guide our thoughts and decision making.
We rest in Jesus by developing a personal and symbiotic relationship with Him built on faith and obedience.
Jesus desires relationship with a believer not religion. This relationship is built on prayer, reading the Bible and most importantly listening and obeying His voice.
The Christ follower lives by “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord!”
The Bible is filled with stories of men and women who followed this precept and were delivered by Jesus.
The walls of Jericho did not fall down by the actions of men. Joshua obeyed the instructions of God and the walls came tumbling down.
Jesus is before all things, and in Him all things consist!
