But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” Matthew 4:4

Jesus was one with His Father and listened for the words coming out of His mouth. Jesus did not react or make decisions from feelings. He was always in compliance with God.

Jesus was hungry and had not eaten anything in forty days. Satan said if you are the Son of God command that these stones become bread.

Christ followers get into trouble when they take matters into their own hands. 

We are instructed to seek the will of God for our lives by committing our works to Jesus each day and listening for His voice.

We can be in oneness with Jesus by submitting to the Holy Spirit who lives in all believers. The Spirit will guide our footsteps and decision making. He will keep a believer on track with Jesus.

The goal is to live by this spiritual truth. “Not my will but Yours be done”.

This requires a believer to walk by faith and be obedient to the instructions of Jesus regardless of the personal cost or lack of logic.

It all comes down to taking Jesus seriously and laying your life down for Him!
