How to be a friend of Jesus!

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13

The command from Jesus is to lay down our life for our friends. Jesus defines friends as those who are important to Him.

Jesus does not want believers to act as servants because a servant does not know what his master is doing.

Jesus promises to share all things He hears from God with His friends.

We did not choose Jesus. He chose His people and appointed them to bear fruit for the kingdom of God and the fruit shall remain forever.

Jesus also said whatever a believer asks the Father in His name He will give to him. Ask in the will of Jesus according to the Word for your life!

How does a Christ follower lay down his life for his friends?

This happens because of the unconditional love Jesus has expressed to a believer. He died so a human being can have the gift of salvation and live forever with Jesus.

The life of a believer is following the role model of Jesus. We die to self and live for Jesus. “Not my will but Yours be done.”

Jesus desires to have a deep and personal relationship with a believer built on faith and obedience.

We zealously seek the good, acceptable and perfect will of Jesus through prayer, reading the Bible and listening for the voice of Jesus.

Jesus instructs believers to pray for your family and friends. We are asked to be willing to offer up our body for intercession to bring down strongholds and set people free from the bondage of sin. This is based on a verse in Colossians; “Filling up your flesh with the afflictions of Christ for His body the Church.”

Jesus is sealed in every believer with the Holy Spirit. He is the life of Jesus and will guide a believer into the pathway of Jesus. We are to submit to the authority of the Holy Spirit and be aligned with Him at all times.

Laying down your life for Jesus is valuing others above yourself. There is no boasting and a believer is a humble and powerful witness for Jesus.
