Questioning the identity and qualifications of Jesus!

“Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” John 4:12

The Samaritan woman respected Jacob who built the well and drank water from it along with his sons and livestock. He gave the well to the Samaritans as a gift.

The Samaritan woman was skeptical about Jesus and questioned His identity.

Now Jesus was claiming He was greater than the well and offered the woman Living Water.

The challenge is why do we question the identity and divine nature of Jesus?

Jesus said if a human being drinks the Living Water he will never thirst again and the water in him will be a fountain springing up to eternal life.

We question Jesus by not taking Him seriously and vacillating between drinking Living Water and water out of a bottle.

Jesus offers the gift of salvation which is a new life and identity. This life is free of the world and Christ centered.

We become a new creature in Christ sealed with the Holy Spirit.

We die to self and live for Jesus through the gift of salvation. A Christian is responsible to walk in oneness with Jesus grounded in the Holy Spirit.

We are covered by the blood of Jesus and free of the bondage of sin.

We must zealously seek the will of God for our life by prayer, reading the Bible and listening for the voice of Jesus.

We live in a personal and symbiotic relationship with Jesus built on faith and obedience.

We honor Jesus by respecting who He is without doubt or wavering.

The Samaritan woman was convicted of her doubt by the powerful words of knowledge spoken by Jesus and became a faithful believer.

What does it take for this to happen to you?
