“Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.” Romans 17:18

The Holy Spirit spoke to me this morning about divisiveness and how this separates a believer from the Living Christ.

Divisiveness in the Bible is defined as the state of tending to cause deep disagreement, discord, or separation of believers in the Body of Christ.

The Bible teaches there is one body and one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism. There are no variations.

Religion causes divisiveness by teaching requirements to keep laws, do works, and adhere to obligations. This brings condemnation and distances believers from the presence of Jesus. 

There are many pastors teaching the Bible with liberal views or interpretations based on impure motives. We are to accept the Bible as written without any doctrinal deviations.

The spirit of divisiveness can be overcome by prayer, reading the Bible and listening for the voice of Jesus. 

The Spirit of divisiveness also happens in a relationship with family and friends when a believer insists on his ways and denies the views of others.

The Holy Spirit who is sealed in all believers will always speak the truth and bring glory to Jesus. We must submit to the authority of the Holy Spirit and invite Him to have authority over all our thoughts and decision making.

Jesus desires to have a personal and embracing relationship with a believer built on faith and obedience.
