Overcoming sadness and loss through Jesus!

“The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.” Psalm 38:18

Sometimes in life we get in touch with overwhelming sadness and pain over things from the past. They tend to paralyze a believer.

We can’t accept the harsh and cruel ways of God and feel totally defeated.

We are stuck in the mud and cannot move forward. Prayer doesn’t seem to be uplifting or bring healing or forgiveness.

How do we get out of this gloom and back into life?

First we have to forgive Jesus for what has happened and ask Him to cover us with His blood.

We have to approach Jesus with a contrite attitude and stop blaming Him for what seems like very cruel actions. We have to pray for emotional healing through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We have to pray for strength to deal with the challenges of life.

We have to praise Jesus for the gifts we receive and thank Him for the beauty of His creation.

What I have been doing for quite sometime is turning scripture into a personalized prayer. This makes a Psalm or Bible verse more alive and comforting.

Memorize and speak scripture and the promises of Jesus during your activities each day. I go to a fitness center every other day and spend my twenty minutes on the treadmill speaking the truths of God.

I listen for the voice of Jesus and journal His thoughts and priorities every day.

I call or meet with a friend for counsel and prayer.

I pray several times a day in the morning, evening and middle of the night.

I am never alone from Jesus regardless of my emotions and I believe He keeps His words and delivers His people.

I have experienced supernatural rest and sleep by coming to Jesus when I feel defeated and dealing with heavy burdens! He offers a refreshing spirit to a downtrodden Christian.

Jesus transforms a believer into an overcomer of any challenge or evil attack through His divine presence.
