“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart; These, O God, You will not despise.” Psalm 51:17
The difference between the character of Jesus and the human nature at birth is overwhelming and creates irreconcilable distance between man or woman and God.
God wants nothing to do with the contaminated condition of a mere mortal. In fact, He destroyed all humanity except for eight people for sexual immorality and rebellion against God.
Jesus is a God of unconditional love and died for all humanity. He will gladly offer the gift of salvation to anyone who reaches out to Him. However, there is a strong caveat about change and taking Jesus seriously.
The human nature at birth desires to live for self and defy the ways of God. This has to be broken and the Christian must repent from sin and seriously seek the will of God for his life.
The challenge is a Christian cannot see the deceit and wicked condition of his personality and motives. He sees glimpses of his impure actions and intentions but is blocked from seeing the wholeness of his inner nature. God sees everything and has a plan to refine and transform a believer into His character.
This is where the actions of Jesus create brokenness. He engineers trials and adversity to break the power of sin and create a meek and humble man or woman with a contrite spirit.
Jesus has to break every habit and compulsive behavior in a Christian. He desires for a believer to be obedient and follow His instructions without compromise or delays.
The ways of Jesus will not make sense and seem cruel and harsh at times. Jesus wants complicity without logic or understanding.
The Christian can overcome the severe actions causing brokenness by letting go and yielding his life to Jesus without any exceptions. This happens by praying “Not my will but Yours be done.”
The Holy Spirit will identify what needs to be changed and how a Christian can walk in oneness with Jesus.
Submit to the authority of the Holy Spirit and pray for His thoughts to be established in your mind. He will keep a Christian on track with Jesus and abiding in His order and simplicity.
